Call for Instructors

The Pontiac School of the Arts is looking for instructors to offer courses in arts and crafts.

Young Artists' Workshop program (YAWS): Half-day and one-day courses for children aged 8-13.

Courses for youth (ages 13-16): One- or two-day courses.

Courses for adults (can start at age 14 ): One-, two-, three- or four-day courses.

Courses will be scheduled on weekdays and weekends year round at the Stone School, 28 Mill Street in Portage-du-Fort.

Courses can be offered in English, French or both. If you wish to teach more than one course please provide a separate reply for each. Acceptance of your course will be up to the decision of the organizing committee for PSOTA.

If you are interested in giving a course, please send the following information in either French or English. You may send your answers in a Word document or in the body of an email. Please keep the numbering. We will ask for full course descriptions, materials lists, translations, etc. at a later date.

1. Contact information: Name, mailing address, email, web site if applicable and phone number(s).

2. The age range for your course. Example: children 8-13 years (YAWS), youth 13-16, adults 16+, etc.

3. A short description of your course with title, brief outline, and number of days. Example: Drawing: basic drawing techniques for beginners, 2 days.

4. Please indicate level of experience required (beginner, intermediate, advanced) or if this is a repeat or a continuation of a course you have taught previously at PSOTA.

5. Will you supply materials to students at cost or will they need to purchase them independently? Please indicate approximate costs.

6. Do you prefer that your course be held on a weekday or a weekend?

7. Are you interested in teaching during the summer session in July and August, or on weekends during the fall and winter or both?

Please send your reply by email:
teach@artpontiac.com

Or by post:
The Pontiac School of the Arts
Box 1063
Shawville, QC, J0X 2Y0

Please note:

If your course is accepted we will be asking you to sign a contract committing to the dates and times assigned for your courses.

Agreement to teach a course also includes agreement to participate in exhibitions held in June at Café 349 Gallery in Shawville, Quebec and at the Stone School Gallery in Portage-du-Fort. For these exhibitions we ask that you provide us with two samples of your work.

We have found that exhibitions are great promotional opportunities for your courses. People from out of town can make special arrangements for participation. More information will be available later.

Thank you,

Dale Shutt,
