Paintings by James Hrkach, Chris Mussett & Heather Assaf and Chantal Auger’s pottery.
James Hrkach is a Canadian born artist living in Eastern Ontario. His time spent at Queen’s University, (Kingston, Ontario 1981-86) supervised by the likes of David Andrews, Ralph Allen, David Pickering and Carl Heywood, convinced him of the depth of meaning one can find in composition.
Oddly drawn towards figurative painting at a time when abstraction was prevalent, he finds that the tension between observation and invention has remained, the one constant throughout years of work. A career in Arts Education (1986-present) and side projects in illustration, music composition, drama and writing have afforded an interesting viewpoint from which to survey his visual art endeavours.
